2 x short sprint courses on a sprint map I've been making at KU Edwards Campus. I was at Edwards Campus for the class I'm involved in and ran the course after class.

I felt pretty good for the first of the two courses - I felt like I was running an honest effort and a reasonable pace. But, after a short rest, I felt terrible on the second course. I kept a similar pace, but it was a much bigger struggle.

Enough jogging to feel warmed up and then a 2 minute jogging/walking break between the two courses.

Night orienteering at Clinton Overlook. It was fun and I managed to avoid falling in any of the crappy forest.

I re-ran this course (taking controls in the reverse order):

There have been a few changes - mostly individual trees removed. It was still fun.

I stopped at Lexington Lake on the way home from work and ran a course on the in-progress map Paul is working on. I designed the course to start in the woods and end in the open areas, figuring I'd be able to read the map in the woods when I started, but as the sun set I'd struggle to read the map in the woods. It worked just right. As I finished, it was getting difficult to see the map in the open areas.

I took one pretty hard fall.

Mary drew a short course on the Holcom map. I shuffled around it, stopping at each control to memorize the leg, then jogging to the next control. Very easy mentally and physically. Fun.

Putting out some markers for the intro course.

OK Woodridge event. Mary set the courses. It was fast with straightforward navigation. It was also lots of fun. My mind and legs were working pretty well today. Not well enough to beat Matt S or Dean H.

We had a good turnout. Mary will probably post more in her log.
