I ran a 8K course at the Riverfront map (a modified KP map). Fun and, like last night, my brain seemed to be working pretty well.

I had one leg where I went through a rough open area I'd never entered. I knew it was slow, but I figured it'd be worth venturing in on a training. It wasn't too terrible as long as you stuck to deer tracks. But the deer paths didn't go where I wanted to go. So I wasn't holding a line. When I came out, I wasn't sure really sure where I was but I thought, "maybe just north of the control?" I headed straight south and hit the control. Fun.

Another warm day.

Dusk to night orienteering at the Arboretum. This was fun, but it seemed like I was out longer than 30 minutes. My mind was working well.

Night sprint urban MTB orienteering on West Campus. Fun. My legs feel the lack of recent time on the bike.

Warm out there today. I removed my gloves and unzipped my jacket because it was so warm.

Note

A long-ish work day. I rode along with a Med-Act battalion chief. It was mostly interesting and fun.

A sprinty course on West Campus. I got home a little early and there was enough light that I figured I could probably finish the course without a headlamp. And I did. But it was dim and I had to stop to read any detail on the map. It was training for running with glasses on a rainy day.

Fun.

Got home just after the KU-OU game started. It was a tough road loss, but not much of an upset (maybe not an upset at all). It is painful watching Azubuike shoot free throws.

I went to a presentation by Roger Boyd about his recent trip to Chile. It started at 7. I needed to figure out a way to get my O' session in before Boyd's presentation. My first plan was to design a bike-O' course and do that as a way of getting to the presentation. But mid-afternoon the snow started. The roads would be slick for biking.

My revised plan involved a fast-walk course that went through West Campus and on the Tower Park (or is it Water Tower Park?) map. The finish was at Mom and Ron's and I got a lift to the Chile presentation.

It worked out pretty well to navigate through a course through the snow and dark.

I jogged around a course at Rockcrusher. Overall I'm still not feeling normal. I noticed it most on the hills and a general lack of push when the woods got a bit junky.

In addition to running the course, I did about 30 minutes of fieldchecking. They've cleared a bunch of the cedars in the old Rockcrusher quarry.

15th of 31 (almost half way through the 31 day challenge).
