Exploring the Turkey Mountain area in Tulsa. I made a remote map on Saturday based on lidar + KP + lidar derived "forest" + open street map. The map was pretty good and the trails were mapped better than normal for OSM.

The woods are not fantastic (but better than anywhere around Lawrence). The trail network is good. The area seems to get a lot of use from hikers, runners and MTBers. A lot of places with MTB trails have plenty of trails but few junctions. I guess that makes it hard to get lost. Turkey Mountain has plenty of trail junctions. That makes it much nicer for orienteering.

The hillsides have some nice rock features. The steepest area had some big cliffs (very well mapped by KP) and large rocks. The less steep hillsides had some rocky areas with smaller boulders and scattered rocky ground.

It was fun to explore.
