orienteering race 1:18:52 [3] 7.69 km (10:15 / km)
ahr:146 21c

Walked the course. Felt so-so.

Yesterday I felt terrible. Instead of making dinner, mowing the lawn, and packing. I went to sleep at 7:45 and slept for the next 11 hours. I was still feeling off, so I decided to walk the course with the idea that I would stop if I felt bad.

I felt so-so. I walked hard/fast and that actually felt like a lot of work. But, night orienteering is so fun and the terrain was unusual enough to be especially interesting - and I didn't stop.

Despite walking, I had a few booms. Leaving 7 I didn't get my direction right and headed S when I should have headed SE. At 13 I was headed for the control when I saw Glen T and a few other runners at a control. I knew Glen was on my course, so I went over to the marker, feeling like it wasn't in the right spot...and it wasn't my marker. Recovery was easy, but it was a bad mistake because it was so dumb to pay attention to others instead of the map.

9 looks like a boom, but it was really just avoiding some crappy forest.
