Run - Terrain warm up/down 10:10 [2] 0.85 km (11:57 / km) +47m 9:22 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Bit of a trot to warm the body up after an hour or so on the start.
12 PM

Run - Orienteering race 1:25:13 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (45:00 @3) + (25:00 @4) + (5:13 @5) 10.04 km (8:29 / km) +513m 6:46 / km

The Trossachs, Black, 8.0km, 715m, 27 controls.
As expected, this was amazing, always love running here. Ground was wet, but not as bad as feared and I (for the most part) chose routes that kept away from the deeper heather - although this didn't always work and I lost about a minute between #19 and #20. Also lost a fair amount of time (45 seconds) looking for a 5m boulder (#12)!

However the most annoying thing was a slow motion fall on the way to #16 where my arm disappeared into a bog hole, completely covering the map in bog and turning it orange. Both the colour and the resulting damage made it difficult to read from there on, causing me to lose some focus, particularly annoying as I had just started to move quite well.

Also aided in me missing the track option at the end of the long leg, costing another minute or so. Final annoying mistake was at the penultimate control where a parallel error cost me another minute. Would have been happier to have been about 3 minutes quicker, but still had a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next race here already.

Run - Trail warm up/down 7:25 [1] 1.0 km (7:27 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

From the finish to download. Feeling a bit tired now.
2 PM

Run - Orienteering 32:00 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (7:00 @3) 2.74 km (11:40 / km) +146m 9:13 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Out to collect a few controls (only 8 but heavy stakes, so hard work). Amazingly warm and sunny. Nice end to a lovely weekend.

Run - Terrain warm up/down 10:29 [2] 1.42 km (7:23 / km) +1m 7:21 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Shorter warm up than ideal, my fault.

Run - Orienteering race 45:24 intensity: (5:00 @2) + (35:00 @3) + (5:24 @4) 6.68 km (6:48 / km) +215m 5:51 / km

South Achray,
Went into this planning on running slow as I didn't want to be knackered for the Trossachs. Turned out I didn't have much choice as my quads were banjaxed. Really enjoyed the course but the tight legs meant that everything was a struggle. Only one miss (assumed a power line would follow a clearing - it didn't) but at the pace I was moving it was never going to be too hard.

Got to one control to meet a man saying 'shit, that's my #11', I replied, well, at least you know where you are', to which said 'wait, I'm looking for #11'!

Climbing 30:00 [1]

Top rope climbing at The Peak with Hannah Inman (quite a little machine), quite a small wall but enough to keep me busy. First time doing proper top rope climbing and using auto-belay (latter quite scary!). Struggled with the endurance as climbs so much longer, but much less physical, than bouldering. Fun and great to fit in.
7 PM

Run - Trail warm up/down 10:27 [1] 1.1 km (9:28 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Too the start with the rest of the runners.
8 PM

Run - Orienteering race 1:36:39 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @3) + (16:39 @4) 11.56 km (8:22 / km) +433m 7:02 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Dark Thistle, Doon Hill and Fairy Knowe, 9.7km.
This was tough, but hugely enjoyable and great to do a night race in some real terrain. Started slow bu found myself at the front at #3 (don't know how), then courses split and was with Spongy and some kid. Completely messed up #5 (3 minutes?) but found two other kids (actually students, but they looked dead young!).

Did my own thing from then on, but kept seeing the others (I was taking straighter routes but not running as fast (trying to save energy for Sunday). Pretty clean for a large part of the course until the final butterfly, where several small misses were annoying. Somehow ended up third, which was a surprise considering the strength of the field and the slow pace I was running at. But it was the type of stuff I enjoy. Great way to spend a night.
9 PM

Run - Road 8:50 [1] 0.97 km (9:06 / km) +5m 8:53 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Back to the cars from the finish. GPS implies that I was a bit more keen (Bradc was driving if (when...) the speed limit was broken!).

Run - Terrain 59:20 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (17:00 @2) + (35:00 @3) + (2:20 @4) 9.88 km (6:00 / km) +380m 5:02 / km
shoes: Salomon Fellraiser 2016

Quick explore and visit to two trig points on the northernmost part of Dartmoor on the way home. Have been led to believe that Dartmoor was a huge pile of tussocks but this was more like a golf course (presumably mapped?). Legs better than yesterday. Very windy.

shoes: Salomon Fellraiser 2016

Random run along the SW Coast Path. Had no idea where I was going but found a nice loop. Not as good a view of the rough sea than I was hoping for, but nice all the same. Not enough time to do more.

Bike - Road 32:52 [2] 13.02 km (2:31 / km) +29m 2:30 / km

IW. Body knackered after a poor night's sleep (sore wisdom tooth). Otherwise still knackered from Saturday. Nice morning though.
4 PM

Bike - Road 31:37 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (11:37 @3) 12.62 km (2:30 / km) +56m 2:27 / km

HFW. A wee bit early to get to the MDC run in time, only others were late so that didn't work! Legs still really feeling L2B.
6 PM

Run - Trail 1:00:39 intensity: (4:00 @1) + (25:00 @2) + (25:00 @3) + (6:39 @4) 8.14 km (7:27 / km) +376m 6:03 / km
shoes: Salomon Fellraiser 2016

MDC run up Sugar Loaf from the south. Quite a nice and easy route up for the most part, steep at the end though. Calfs tight and quads tired, but nothing hurting. The ridge run on the way down was hard work and it was an effort to keep up with everyone. Very nice evening and great to see some new people out (also got back before the rain).

Bike - Road 33:54 intensity: (13:54 @1) + (20:00 @2) 13.0 km (2:36 / km) +29m 2:35 / km

IW. Darker morning and more nippy as well, but another nice one. Council have also brushed most of the TT so nice clean cycling this morning.
8 PM

Bike - Road 32:00 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (25:00 @2) + (2:00 @3) 12.9 km (2:29 / km) +45m 2:26 / km

HFW. The clocks change by one hour but loads of cyclist seem to think that they can cycle two hours later without any lights... Numpties. Lovely still evening but had to keep the head down along the river to avoid the bats. Forgot to start the watch so time a guess.
