Running warm up/down 21:54 [3] 4.06 km (5:24 / km)

Combined WU/WD. Ali found a rotting seal carcas, yeah.

Orienteering race 37:39 [3] 6.13 km (6:09 / km)

Scottish Champs relay first leg.
Fifth from the start but far too high up (3rd) after about 450m. Followed Tlines and Alex into a corker of a 1, ending up at the wrong #1 then 2 and then finally 1. Cripes.
After that just was horrendously scrappy and not interpreting the map, binning time at most controls with poor compass.
Only just beat Grace so that gives a metric of just how shocking this was today. Either way still somehow won the handicapped class thanks to Martin and John lol #roomforeveryone

Running 16:53 [3] 3.27 km (5:10 / km)

Combined WU/WD

Orienteering 48:07 [3] 7.34 km (6:33 / km)

Scottish Champs 6.0km- yuck.

Only made 2 actual mistakes (both about 1 min) but just quite a bit of hesitation especially at the start.
Can’t say I enjoyed this at all, just a massive slog through a shitty marsh with little technical difficulty to be seen. Severely demotivated so not surprised with the result

Amazing run.
Got the bus to Glenmore visitor centre- headed to Badaguish then up to the Meall a Buichaille ridge from the west.
About 24 degrees so taps aff for nearly all of it. Tough work but loved running along the ridge with some absolutely beautiful views the whole time.
Great way to finish my wee mini break in Aviemore!

WHAT A BLOODY WIND UP
Staying in Aviemore till Wednesday, so decided to take the MTB round the beautiful Loch an Eilein. Got halfway and got a back tyre puncture- had a shitty pump so after two people helping and carrying my bike 1.75 agonising kilometres.
I'm not sure if you've seen the scene in RV where Robin Williams just walks into the lake and doesn't come out, but with a loch so nearby I was seriously considering recreating it.
Then my knight in shining armour (a teacher supervising DofE on his bike) had a pump and saved me. Legend. Got home after that, taking about 140mins to go 15km. Yep.
What an adventure.
