Event 36.
I organised this one so obviously didn't compete.
Some observations.
- Much time pressure. Arrived back from Canberra Friday evening and had to get 30 controls out before midday the next day. Inevitably I made an error. Control 18 on course 1 was on the adjacent thicket. There was enough navigational confusion out there that only a selection of runner son the course noticed. I presume others were able to follow elephant tracks. I voided the leg before and after.
- 87 entries, and as some were groups, at least 95 participants on the day. This is the highest for a local event in some time. I think 15 abnormal attendances could be explained by the attendance of the Vic Junior Squad. Take them out and there are still 80 participants. That is still unusually high. Reasons- good weather, very close into town and not being called a sprint event, despite being a sprint map. If I had kept the name "double sprint"as in the orginal fixture, I think attendance would have been closer to 50.
Maybe one day we can run a weekend carnival on Virginia Hill, White Hill No 4, Birds Reef and New Saint Mungo. All 5k gold mining maps within the urban boundary. Its something no one else in Australia can do.
Course 2 which didn't have the bum control
