Note

Aoraki/Mt Cook

Red Tarns and Governer's Bush (and Bowen's Bush). Legs a bit sore after yesterday's steps, so was very ploddy going up today's steps!

Note

Aoraki/Mt Cook - big walk from village, Sealy Tarns (then a bit towards Mueller Hut until it got too snowy), Kea Point, Hooker Valley, village.

Absolutely stunning views.

It was all the Slovakian orienteers around in Mt Cook (only saw a few out walking though).

It's pretty easy to play spot the orienteer - they are the ones in gaiters, o pants, club jacket, WMG backpack (possibly with chest number attached), and buff. Not the ones in Ugg boots (although I'm pretty sure that woman didn't make it all the way up to Sealy Tarns).

Running (downhill) 1:00:00 [3]

Queenstown, Ben Lomond.

Walked from town up the Tiki trail and then up to the summit of Ben Lomond. Luckily I got out early as what seemed like the entire Swedish orienteering population was coming up behind me (although I think only 4 walked up from town, the rest taking the gondola). Beautiful day out, but pretty cold at the summit so didn't stay long. Also a nasty icy patch of track just below the summit.

Ran some of the way down (figured my legs would be sore anyway) as I wanted to get back in time to go out to Arrowtown in the arvo. Had to stop lots to get out of the way of Swedes on their way up.

Running 1:03:00 [3]

Wanaka, Mt Iron loop from camp ground.

Jog through town to Mt Iron, then ran/hiked up to the top (legs feeling pretty tired), few photos and back down the other side.

Stopped in town on the way back to buy some warm socks to keep my toes toasty at Mt Cook.

1 hr is running time, 3 mins is jumping on the giant jumping pillow at the camp ground afterwards.
