Running (SR - Hilton) 36:32 [3] 5.81 km (6:17 / km) +84m 5:52 / km
ahr:162 max:173 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Perfect night for a run - Wil joined me - coincidentally would have been the USD tonight!

Humidity was still there but it was a pleasant temperature.

Never been in this area before - quite enjoyed it, there was a little bit of undulation to keep you honest.

My right foot is really bothering me im starting to think a scan of some sort might be required - will see if it settles now I have moved my cleat back - I suspect its been too far forward and I am putting my weight on my big toe not the balls of my foot creating pain for my arch... but maybe (probably more likely) a result of rolling that ankle so many times its just not funny including very badly not too long ago. - only flairs up with cycling though - anyway off topic!

Run was really good, Wil got some squares in and I just plodded along. I took it easy because of foot and lack of energy, know I have more to give but happy with the 6:17 pace when knowing I could definitely be sub 6. I also felt lighter out there which is good.

People were out and about a party was also in full swing - generally nice vibe and was nice doing a line course less thinking required just plot and go!

Back to standard in route - took it easy feeling the burn whilst being lethargic... legs know they are getting used again now.

Worked hard into the wind and had someone behind me keeping me honest so had to keep working - I think he thought I was trying to lose him when i jumped off the bike path because he followed me then went straight when I turned.

Pretty gusty head wind. First time I felt low power from lack of energy for a while. Road closure still in place in KP so had to detour slightly.

Worked hard pretty much the whole ride starting with mount st - had a runner at the bottom just starting up the road at a reasonable pace so I said - you'll probably overtake me by the top and smiled as I went past - he said only if you do it seated the whole way. Deal I yelled back. Bastard caught me at the top - well done to him!

Otherwise really fluid run with lights et al - feeling pretty weak though.

Was fun having the helicopters swooping overhead as I went up May dr - at the top there was about 6 or so fire engines who signaled em to stop - asked if the eastern bush path was safe or if I had to go back - he was happy me shooting to lovekin on the paved path.

Nice ride in - fire looked under control as it was very little smoke about. Wonder if it will throw a spanner in the works of the regular Tuesday afternoon runners as that is there starting area...

Ok so a bit of an altercation and I was in the wrong.

I went up mount st and could see as I went on to kpr that left lane had been witches hatted all the way down as lane was closed. void of fire trucks I decided it was safer to ride in the closed lane as hard against the witches cones as possible as the traffic was banked hard in the open lane and not much room between cones and cars...

I felt it was the safest and most sensible option given the clear visibility for emergency vehicles that I would see.

I passed plenty of fire crews and the main assembly without incident and got to the end of kpr where the last bus stop was. a vollie had walked right into the lane and signalled me into the traffic I said to him im going straight at the lights e.g. 50m away. No I don't care get out of this lane. Its a $350 fine for you being in here. I replied im only here as its infinitely safer for me than weaving in the cars and cones. reply I don't care if a fire truck comes round that corner at 50km/hr its not safe for you or them.

Fair point but for the fact it is a sweeping bend and I would see the truck a mile off but no point in arguing I said my piece and I knew I was wrong and he was clearly in a pissy mood. Proceed to merge and slowly navigate the 50cms most cars had between there wing mirrors and cones much to the delight of the voll I am sure.

Anyway home pretty smoothly after that.
