Orienteering race (Metro Series - North Freo) 57:52 [3] 8.09 km (7:09 / km) +128m 6:38 / km
shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Was meeting a friend just down the road from where orienteering was today so made for a convenient location.

I realised when I got there I had forgotten my HRM DOH! oh well. Had a chat to a few before the start and had a bit of a slow get away as was talking to emma post the bell.

Slow around the course there wasnt really too much route choice so was following the same people most of the way. My legs still not goo right glute/hammy was sore for first bit the left calf was feeling tight and threatening a ping. Stomach was also churning and just felt like I needed a toilet break for 3/4 of the course. didnt make for the most pleasant of runs. Oh to be feeling 100% and moving freely!

Top end of the course was a bit weird - I had been in contact with Polly a lot fo the course and coming down from 23 I saw her on the bottom path before going up to 29 or 30. I got down and started up toward 29 and didnt see her so figured 29 was a drop. Turns out she turned on the motor because she got 29 and like me dropped 25/26. Not sure how she put so much ground on me in that section given we where similar pace rest of the day and I was within sight from 23. oh well - put it down to me feeling like crap.

Made one error on 24 to 27 and cut through onto the path and ended up running more distance I think. oh well probably not too bad.

Still nice to be out and about even if it was a bit of a plod.

Nice breaky after down the road at rabbit in the moon.

Road Bike (Commute to work) 26:34 [3] 7.68 km (17.3 kph) +101m
ahr:142 max:160 shoes: Giro Privateer

So was taking ti easy on the way in today because my leg are feeling heavy.

Didnt stop me from having a good laugh/priceless moment on mount st.

There was two other bikes behind me, 1 was a kpmg partner on a granny bike way back, the second was someone on a very nice roadie and me. I went into the decent with some speed but didnt pedal but I was going to have a reasonably quick descent (not break neck speed though). Roadie #2 determined to race decided to pedal his biggest gear and just squeeze past me and then have a few seconds glide before having to break. He almost overshot the up ramp - but he had a rookie error way before then.

He forgot to down gear. So as he was at max gear and pretty much broke to a standstill. he ground to a halt as he hit the ramp and came off. I held onto the rail and just smiled. Being stubborn he didnt dismount and fix his gearing he tried to man up and ride on. insert gear change noise from hell and him decleating and re cleating right side and then decleating left because still not enough speed. lol rookie. I went to go for pass around right side. but douche bag still trying road straight on wards not turning as he was still struggling with gears. I cut back in and went behind him as I hear some muttering and gear crunching in the background. I turned around as I exited the bridge to see where he was only to see the kpmg partner on his non racing bike behind me beaming with a smile. He obviously enjoyed that as much as me lol.

Hard and fast into kings park and got good flow on the way there - stopped at Daves office to give him some high5's which I have which will expire before I can use them and then continued on.

Piss off of the day as I came onto spring street my rear light came off and came to a rest in the middle of the lane (not road). I quickly pulled up on other side of road and started to jog back up the hill and across road to get it. I swear the only driver that went through on that side saw me going for it and swerved into middle to directly hit it and once I saw it go smash I aborted even going over and picking up the bits.

nice day for a ride and the super Tuesday peeps where out - gave Nicole a wave as I flew rolled past her spot. Other than that pretty uneventful ride.

Nice of me to inflate the numbers by 1 on my 4th ride to work of the year ha!

Running (SR - Shenton Park) 44:47 [3] 6.77 km (6:37 / km) +62m 6:20 / km
ahr:168 max:180 shoes: ASICS GEL - Nimbus 17

Second attempt on this course - moving slightly slower on average apparently but came in under time so no penalty so I think I got a better score even though I was slower and covered less ground. I think the route change was good

but I really need to figure out how to kick into another gear because 6-630 feels like a cruising pace with not much extra kick there and then any walking done or waiting for traffic smashes my average.

Need some more consistency, a bit more power and to be slightly lighter and maybe just maybe I will be back in the 5 minute zone.

All the same nice getting out and having a crack at this - weather was lovely. Emma also walked will around a portion of the score course and enjoyed it.
