Orienteering race 17:19 [5] 3.19 km (5:26 / km) +55m 5:00 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

SBOC 2x2 fun relay, Cefn Bryn, with Brendan Healy (!) the superfast M40 doctor.

Leg 1 - ignored Clive & Tom D and went the right way to get there first, but only 2rd to no 2 behind a surging Clive & (?) David Seward, but on the notorious "bingo" no 3 (code 233), I went straight and got a good line in, Clive stopped & said it was bingo, & I luckily saw a small re-entrant to the RHS, and went down, quickly finding the top of the flag. Still in the lead; others later could NOT find this control!!!!! including Alice, so I'm told.

Clive charged me down to no 4 where i was just in front, then I basically hung on like grim death until the 2nd to last control where he was a tad high & I was lower; he lost 2 seconds which was enough & I was on him, which meant last control together, and BOOM up the run in I went, taking him out by one second. No prizes for this, and maybe i hurt myself? (see next entry)

Orienteering race 29:00 [4] 4.29 km (6:46 / km) +75m 6:13 / km
(injured) shoes: VJ Integrators

SBOC leg 3 of 2x2 relay, already out of it as Brendan had had to take a medical call during his leg as well as getting lost twice. LOL!

Sadly,as soon as i started, my inner left knee was VERY sore - eh????

Tried to carry on, with little motivation, but pain remained. What the f*** ?

small misses at 2 & 4 (just not concentrating, & Seward guy was around me), then ran sensibly to no 8 & 9 & then it all went completely balls up for the worst control of the year (and injured) - no 9 - went thru marsh then hit a path that did not make any sense to me. If i'd gone south, I'd have been fine, but i lost over 5 minutes, totally lost for a while. V embarrassing as they could see me from the start/finish on top of the hill. Dave Seward allowed himself to be led astray by me (tho Margaret Reynolds didn't & beat us both), and i came in shamefaced. But worse - in pain.

Sadly knee pain did not ease thoughout rest of the day, and am now rather concerned -- this needs to resolve before wednesday morning 6am, as I can't carry heavy bags... to airports.... & Finland... in this state :-(
