Hockey 40:00 [4]
shoes: Roclite 318 GTX

Five-a-side, warm and pretty competitive. Good fun.

Orienteering race 30:00 [5] 5.5 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

TVOC Summer Series, Brill!!
Had forgotten quite how good this area is. Ran first leg with Ben, clean through the second on my own, then a few mistakes on the 3rd - mainly poor distance judgement. Started the same last loop as Ben 30 secs behind and caught him up but he got away on a fence crossing at the end. Never saw Alan or Peter they were too quick.

Dead easy round the nature reserve in the sun.

Orienteering race 39:19 [5] 6.5 km (6:03 / km) +255m 5:03 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

British Relays, Holmbury
Was originally running for the 2nd team but Cherry got asked to run for INT so was promoted... Fairly nervous in the changeover pen as I knew that with Ben and Peter we could make the podium as long as I didn't mess up. Ben had a stormer to put me out 4th.

Chasing Malley to 1, but we had different gaffles and had a moment of panic whilst I worked out where I was. Punched just ahead of Ant Squire who'd already caught me. Hit the pit NE of 3 and took 5 seconds to work out where I was. Nailed it to 4 to catch Ant back up. He then led through the technical bit to 8. Tried pushing on a bit over the next few but navigation was slightly off and ended up punching the spectator control a bit behind. Went ahead again on 17 and this time held it as the next few controls were dead easy, struggled up the slope to 19 and handed over to Poo Boy with a small lead over NOC and a bigger one over SHUOC. Relieved to see I hadn't mispunched, and then amazed to hear Cherry had for INT. Peter did the job on the last leg to win by about 4 minutes in the end.

Probably not the most competitive British relay there's been, but still nice to get on the podium for the first time!

Orienteering race 1:21:11 [4] 17.0 km (4:47 / km) +580m 4:05 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

British Champs, Winterfold
This had the potential to go quite well, but, it didn't. Lost a shit load of time on 10 as I was busy planning the long leg and hoped the guy I was running with would find it for me. Then more time at the end of the long leg by going to the wrong control and was pretty poor through most of the butterfly loop. Malley went straight through me, as did Simon Gardner, and I didn't have the motivation to try and stick with them. Tried a bit harder when Cherry caught me 12 mins at the start of the 2nd loop, took different routes on the long legs but popped out at both not far behind. He had to tell me where 26 was though. Somehow massively overshot 29, running straight over the erosion gully it was next to without thinking...

Left it too late to get a lift out to Wittenham so got the train to Culham and ran the rest. With a rucksack.

Orienteering race 30:30 [5] 5.3 km (5:45 / km) +180m 4:55 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

TVOC Summer Series, Wittenham Clumps
Made a right mess of the first leg; ran to the last control before the first one, then missed a gap in the fence to two and ran an extra 250m or so. Otherwise fine, which is lucky given all the controls were on path junctions.
