Running 40:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Kookaburra Aztec

Dead slow round Port Meadow. Helped free a boat that had got stuck on the side of the canal.

Orienteering race 25:50 [5] 5.1 km (5:04 / km) +240m 4:06 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

JK Relay 1-2C, Hambleden (OUOC Posh Boys)
Finally a decent run. Good 1st leg from Ben put me off in 10th. Got a bit excited and lost a little time at 1 by running off too quick. Took the path to 4 which wasn't quickest, but otherwise very good through to the spectator which I went through in 4th or 5th. Really started to struggle from here. Should have taken the simple path route to 14 but went dead straight. The hill took a lot out of me and I stopped thinking straight, still don't know what I did but managed to miss the thicket and was lucky to turn around 100m later and see it behind me. Lost a minute and the chance of a really good result. A bit low into 16 and had given up reading the map by 17 so lost some more time but nothing major, eventually finished in 6th.

Results Pleased to have beaten some decent orienteers today, the fast easy courses definitely suited me.

Just checked the splits and apparently I was only about 20 seconds down on SHUOC at 13. Pretty pissed off to have thrown away the chance to catch willy... would've been sweet to bring us back in 3rd.

Orienteering race 2:00:48 [4] 17.9 km (6:45 / km) +410m 6:03 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

JK Long, Cold Ash
Poor run. Very lazy not reading the detail and expecting to walk into the controls. Would still have got under 2hrs, which would have been nice, had I not massively cocked up 35 by pissing about in a different bush near a different path junction.

At least I didn't mispunch.

Orienteering race 38:15 [5] 6.5 km (5:53 / km) +310m 4:45 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

JK Middle, Hambleden
Running pretty quick but making lots of small mistakes. No disasters though, and a bit of relay practice when Malley caught me up towards the end.

Orienteering race 16:07 [5] 3.6 km (4:29 / km) +15m 4:23 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

JK Sprint, Reading Uni
Scrappy run, as expected given the lack of sprint-o racing/training. Would still have got an alright time if I hadn't lost a minute or so on 6 by reading the control description for 9 instead (upside down 6...) and looking on the wrong side of the building then taking ages to work out why I couldn't find the control. Idiot. Think I managed to get the slowest split of the day here, which is fairly impressive.

Orienteering 34:00 [3] 7.8 km (4:22 / km)
shoes: Roclite 315

Thought I'd re-run the technical bits from the city race to get my eye in before Friday, but ended up doing it mostly by memory and not reading the detail quickly enough. Not ideal.
