Woke up this morning feeling quite alright with only a sore throat to speak of. Decided to go to the stumble as planned and do the long version. I really enjoyed this "race", which consisted of two loops on Adams Creek map and had five select-your-own-route windows. Mass start didn't bother me, took #1 in a train but then the train was veering left on #2 and silly me decided that the people in front know where they're going, even though my gut was telling me to go right. After fighting through the green I realized I was actually correct and took off to find #2 no problem. I got a little pissed off at myself and dropped most of the train except for AJ, who became my trusted tail for the rest of loop one. At first I was annoyed that AJ would be of no help to me but then I just let him motivate me to push harder without any judgements (from him or from me). I'm quite thankful he stayed with me for the full first loop (which was the stumble short course), sort of merging with my own incentive. I tried to carry that feeling on to the second loop when I was going solo. I felt I had decent energy up until #20, at which point I had my second Gu. Caught up to Sagi on #21 and we ran together for the rest of the course. This was good because my focus was dropping and my legs were getting heavy. The green was also starting to become more painful than during the first loop. On the last few controls we had a decent kick, the woods were more open and the finish was in sight. We did hesitate on control #29 due to what now appears as obstruction of contour lines by the control circle. Fun long O-training. Sore.

Yoga 30:00 [1]

Really wanted to go out for the planned tempo run this morning but woke up not feeling all that great all-over. Listened to my body and did some light yoga and meditation instead.

15 min jog up to eagle rock, then did some drills and stretches. I like coach Jay Johnson's combined strength + running approach, would be good for orienteers. I have yet to try the actual circuit workouts but I've been doing some exercises that he and Sara Vaughn illustrated.

Running intervals (fartlek) 20:00 intensity: (1:59 @0) + (1 @2) + (3:58 @3) + (8:51 @4) + (5:11 @5) 3.93 km (5:06 / km) +1m 5:05 / km

Time intervals on a grassy field that anybody rarely occupies, maybe it was meant as a dog playing ground? Regardless, it is a great field with cut grass and slight incline. When I came to it on this bright sunny, albeit cool morning, it had a nice dew on it. This was a tough work-out as I'm not used to doing intervals anywhere but track, I adjusted well though and enjoyed it even. 8 x 1 and a half minutes with 1 minute rest.

Running warm up/down 14:41 intensity: (2 @0) + (1:03 @1) + (5:57 @2) + (7:39 @3) 2.45 km (5:59 / km) +22m 5:44 / km

woke up with a sore throat today and decided to not sabotage my training with a morning run in the rain. went instead to prospect park after work and took in the city atmosphere of fellow runners, bikers, and kids.. Did a loop on the grassy landscape, absorbing the pink of the clouds against the blue sky.
