Really loving these cool mornings for running. Did a 20 min tempo at west essex trail with good effort and strong stride. Just as I was finishing, a raccoon hopped in the middle of the trail going to the bridge crossing, looking slightly injured. I had no choice but to stop because he or she started hissing at me. Damn cute yet pissed off fur-ball cut 10 sec from my tempo run!

Note

So to assess the O-trainings of this weekend:
The night-O and the Tan course unexpectedly turned out to be the most fruitful exercises. The two Red courses served as good endurance training. From the night-O I took away an encouraging fact that I can run faster and more aggressively if I am motivated (I could not find much motivation on the Red courses). Orienteering with two guys was great because 1. they bash through stuff without much consideration and 2. they run faster. I felt I had more confidence moving through the forest, possibly because my vision was limited and I did not see clearly all the stuff I was actually running through. It was nice to lead to some controls but it was also nice to observe how the three of us (which Misha has calculated to be the most optimal group size at this event) were able to pick up each other's gaps in concentration. Fun + learning combined :)
Tan course was great because it was a practice in not reading so much map detail while running fast. Again, need to work on this more.

Note

My arches feel great after this weekend! I have no idea why that should be but the plantar fascia definitely does not feel as tight as before and there is much less pain. Hopefully it will stay that way..

Yoga 40:00 [0]

A good friend of mine gave me her account info to yogaglo, which features really decent yoga teachers. I did some kundalini yoga for the first time instead of my usual highly intense vinyasa flow yoga. Will be exploring this more.

O-training 1:27:56 [2] 8.07 km (10:54 / km) +193m 9:44 / km
shoes: NB wt110 #2

Decided I needed to wake up prior to doing any fast forest sprints and slowly ran the Red course. My legs were heavy and it was very hard to force myself to run faster. Focus was also not so great. Weather was nicer today though and the course took us to some really lovely spots.
11 AM

O-training 15:21 [4] 1.96 km (7:49 / km) +32m 7:14 / km
shoes: NB wt110 #2

After finishing the Red course I felt I had enough energy in me to do the Tan. Strategy was to go faster and not read so much detail. Worked Ok but I had trouble in the control circle, so still need to work on this more.
