Orienteering (Mt. Penn) 2:20:00 [2]
shoes: Merrell Trail

After a long weekend, felt like I should take an easy Monday. Walked most of Mt. Penn red to get a feel for the place. Obviously a busy park, but really cool in spots. Very steep. There were places I found myself backing downhill like my 2 year old goes down the stairs: "Go safe, Tommy, go safe!"

Orienteering race (Boulder Dash 2 (Green)) 2:40:35 [3] **** 5.07 km (31:40 / km) +140m 27:50 / km
12c shoes: VJ O-shoes

Moved down to green, and though the time still sucks, I had a much better go of it. Lost a lot of time wandering to the east of #3, then lost my compass somewhere after #7. Getting around relying solely on the map was an interesting exercise. I should probably train that way more often.

Talked a little golf afterwards. Waiting for the first orienteering/golf event!

Event: Boulder Dash

Orienteering race (Boulder Dash 1 (Red)) 1:30:00 [3] ****
shoes: VJ O-shoes

Bit off more than I could chew!! It was too much course for me anyway, but rain and fogging glasses didn't help. Everytime I stopped to read the map, my glasses would fog! Time for contact lenses. Quit after #7 and took a leisurely, roundabout run back to the finish.

Run (VF Mt. Joy trails/road) 30:00 [4]
shoes: tioga 2

Ran for 20 min, then it got too dark for safe footing on the trail. Walked out to the field then road and ran to lot.

Run (mt. joy trails/multi) 1:25:00 [3]
shoes: Tioga 1

The first 5k or so were the trails on Mt. Joy and then another 8k around the big multi-use loop. Rained the whole way. It wasn't too long ago that I could just barely run the trail loop alone. Then the multi-use. Now, I can do both in a continuous run. Definitely getting stronger. Just need to figure out how to orienteer now!
