New orienteering distance/discipline straight to WOC. Are they completely out of their minds? Did we learn anything from the micro nonsense?
If someone asks me, (my typical overshooting on it's way, get prepared...) I'd say if that is true and not just a bad joke, 2010 WOC should be transferred to some other organizers just because they are suggesting this :D - they don't take WOC seriously enough. And if IOF allows this to happen, IOF officials should be changed :-) WOC is not the place for testing new race types. First in trainings, then local events, then national international non WRE/WOC races, and when everyone are used to it has been part of out life for years, then we can take it to WOC. But luckily no-one asks me...
Of course there is 2-3 years time, but still... will it really be so common race type by 2010 and all competitors has been practicing and racing in it for many, many times - so many times we could use it as WOC race too? I don't believe it.
I'd accept it they were just aiming to invent a new use for sprint maps, try to suggest it to be used as trainings or local events elsewhere too, and by 2012 in national races. And if it gets popular internationally, suggest it to WOC 2020. Most WOC 2020 top runners are now just kids, they have plenty of time to learn and adapt themselves to this race type.
