xc classic skiing 1:02:18 [3]
ahr:139

over to Wirth for an hour ski....I will say the reverse directions is a bit better and the temp was warm enough to slow the track a bit and allow to edge on the tricky left hand downhill everyone mentions......I did 1.4K repeat loops with 2 minute rest in between.......still only 5 cars in the parking lot when I pulled in......the loop is nothing but tough hills so as I stated before it will have limited appeal........good for this kind of thing for me and by classic skiing and doing repeats I can keep the effort managed.......

I was going to skate a bit to but my knee was hurting......

xc classic skiing 1:58:27 [3]

Birthday ski and Kari and I take the day off to head to Elm Creek....the course was beaten pretty good by the large crowds and the steep uphill was deep with sugar snow but the full 2.4K loop was open and the skiing was fun..........

after 2 days of a stomach bug I held up pretty well and it was an enjoyable ski...

I wanted to but just a bit of time on the skating boards just to keep up the technique.....moved along pretty good but I was tired from all the loops classic skiing.........

Note

Kari and I are looking at dates for Ski to Beer 5 (S2B5).....likely we will be looking at the weekend of Jan 14/15 with a back up date of Feb 18/19 if we have no snow on the first date....stay tuned.......

Note

Any preference for Sat or Sun for Ski to Beer?....

Note

Mt Bike 52:04 [3]
ahr:129

....well from the lemons to lemonade department I decided to utilize our brown Christmas and have the latest mt bike session on record for me.....parked at the Par 3 for 2 loops before the sun went down...20:09/19:52 on the 2nd loop despite dumping it on the frozen ground after hitting a rare and slightly icy patch.........rode around just a bit afterwards

Note

from the "looking at gift horse in the mouth" department I am not a big fan of the snowmaking loop at Wirth....the hilly 1.5K loop never allows you anytime to get a rhythm and some of the hills bog you down with their steepness....this along with the constant twisting and turning makes for a less than fun experience.....grooming is ok but lumpy and the whole thing makes you stumble along.....there is a reason its not very crowded....perhaps it serves the need of faster and elite skiers and racers but the more citizen types wont find much to like.........elm creek will still be the place.....

just skating the loop easily puts me at race HR...not want I need or want....

having said all that I will likely use it here and there mid week to get an hour workout in...probably more likely to stride it to control the effort..
