Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race 16:31 [5] 2.8 km (5:54 / km)

State Sprint champs.
Had a longer than usual warm up, legs still felt a bit tired on the start line. A bit rushed to the first control, hit it and number 2 fine. Fine till 3, where I assumed it was on the far corner of the building, losing around 10 secs. Clean again until 6 and 7, losing around 15 seconds on each. From there I was clean to the map change, apart from maybe 2 or 3 seconds from swinging too wide coming around the corner to 12.
Good for the first two on the new map, however, on 16 lost a good 10 seconds on a poor route, and the legs started to feel a bit tired. Started to plan ahead on the way to 17, causing me to run past the easiest control on the course and drop another 15 secs. Pushed hard to the end, but not hard enough, losing a second to fletch in the finish chute and the race. Really disappointing run, lost around a minute, but a good map and course. Well done to fletch, next stage middle distance champs.

Really easy jog for the most part, but threw in a few 500m effort in around 1:30 to break the run up a bit. Felt a bit tight in the calves after yesterday.

Headed to Curtin with Marketa for some last minute training, but made the rookiest of errors and forgot my shoes. Jogged three of the four intervals in my thongs, but my feet were getting sore and I decided not too push through a fourth and risk it for saturday. Navigation was poor, too much concentration required to keep my thongs on

Nice cruisy run round kings park, pushed a little on the hills on the south east edge but otherwise took it easy.

Gunapin Ridge.
Pretty disappointing run, got a bit too excited and went out too fast, losing a good 5 minutes before the 9th control. Pretty smooth after that but the damage had been done.
