Orienteering 15:53 intensity: (30 @1) + (11:44 @2) + (3:18 @3) + (21 @4) 0.85 mi (18:41 / mi) +25m 17:08 / mi

Hung some beginner loop. Should probably coordinate better with host to make it work into their meet. Or standardize them for all common starts, either way.

Orienteering 40:22 intensity: (3:17 @1) + (29:51 @2) + (6:56 @3) + (6 @4) + (12 @5) 2.62 mi (15:25 / mi) +34m 14:49 / mi
ahr:148 max:221 11c

Two groups. First small group went well I think. Some had done a little before so weren't too green.

Second group was rougher - the teens spread out a bit, and you're never quite sure what they are thinking about. Then one poor kid got a bit winded, so I stayed back with her and we shortcutted out.

Oof, I have got to get into shape!

I tried several routes to minimize climb, but given my lack of fast woods movement, it wasn't enough to keep Oprsal and Tizoc in sight.

A few notable bobbles:

Leaving 7 I drifted the wrong way looking for easy walking. Should have exited strongly on a bearing.

I shortcutted swamp to 8, woo woo, but then misread a lower small hill as the "corner" shaped hill I did go up, which was not the correct ridge. I was doubting myself plus Alan's around the swamp route caught up and I saw him exiting the spot I should be hitting.

If 9 was wrong, I didn't notice, since I came over the hill and happily punched it. Whoops, sometimes it's in your favor.

To 14 I tried to go xc to save climb but wasn't paying attention to where I went through 3 and I added and extra hill of climb and distance, dumb. Let BNM catch back up, but I boldly swamped crossed to the finish so maybe I got her back there.

HRM never read, boo. I thought it had a fresh battery? Who knows.

Canoeing 19:53 [3] 1.43 mi (13:54 / mi) +4m 13:46 / mi

Cris and I ran around the island and back. Worked well.

Walked from friends new house to church's disc golf course. Went well for being rusty until buddy hit a tree and lost one in a swamp. I went after it but afterningot waist deep I decided to come back after things dry up a bit.

>1600 likes! This week, without ads targeting likes (only promoting attendance at the event itself), we got as many new likes (+15) as we were getting as the first pro-like ad was kind of petering out in effectiveness (initially it was good for 30 ish). Approaching critical mass to achieving a sustainable club???

Stacked team list for Luddington.

Interesting first ride in of the season.

Hines was closed, which was not surprising. I wondered if the maintenance folks who saw me would flag me down or make me stop, but they did not, even though two trucks did pass by when I was in the no go zone. My plan was to profess ignorance, and my assumption that closed meant "to cars".

I expect some flooding, so I had to dismount at Middlebelt, scramble up the embankment, cross Middlebelt, and drop back down.

What I didn't expect was to do that again at Inkster!

At Hines and Outer, well-intentioned folks flagged me through out of turn, but honestly I'd rather wait for my regular traffic spot, rather than jersey lefting and holding everyone up since I wasn't expecting to.

I think I could have been sub hour without those two hiccups. To make up time, I practiced my Idaho stop on Paul.

Of course, the biggest impediment to timely arrival was just not packing up efficiently - I need a process and/or checklist.
5 PM

Biking 1:18:17 intensity: (4 @0) + (51:03 @1) + (26:36 @2) + (34 @3) 15.72 mi (12.0 mph) +135m
ahr:135 max:157 shoes: Long Haul Trucker

Back home. Hines was still closed, but two cars drove it anyway, and more bikes than this morning. Much less water, I was able to stay on the road the whole time. Brief train delay in Plymouth.

Not as much zip, but this was typical before.

Note

Renamed flag pickup smoc-runs course to "intermediate lesson". Might be a great way for some quick and dirty coaching pairing up some solid folks with newer folks. Thanks KFish

Started Silver Lake ad but it's not being served! If it doesn't get served soon, I'll change the audience to more outreach. Did the last ad + 3300 reach photo album saturate the existing audience?
