Orienteering race (OOC B Meet) 1:23:03 [4] 7.6 km (10:56 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Long 'sprint' meet at Baxter. Mostly trails and boardwalks.
First half of the race was better than the second. One mistake (wrong copse) and one poor route choice (control 7 to 8- was kicking myself halfway through but didn't want to turn around).
Second half after map exchange was more precise but a lot slower. My legs were tired today! Staying out until 3am two nights previous may not have been the best idea. My brain wanted to GO but my legs just didn't have it.
Overall a good day to be out racing. Happy I opted for the long course and actually finished it.
Results (http://ottawaoc.ca/20110925_results.html) cannot be counted for me since I hung several of the controls. :)

Hiking long (Geocaching!) 2:30:00 [1] 8.0 km (18:45 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro GTex (Aug 10)

After setting up controls for B meet early in the morning, racing the long course, then taking down controls I think I can justify logging this as well. Not so much a 'hike' as it was a 'walk'.
Found 18 controls in the 2 hours we were out along the Osgoode trail. If you're curious, search Osgoode at geocaching.com and 'map location'. There's 70 caches along the trail total. All micros!

Orienteering (OOC training session) 38:00 [2] 3.5 km (10:51 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Great session by Stefan. Object: try 2 different routes to get to each control.
Started off well to the first 3 controls, then realized I wasn't actually pressing the 'lap' button of my watch but the 'start/stop', making the exercise sort of pointless. Continued on through the rest of the controls taking the route I know I would have ignored in a race... which included following fences, straight bearings and picking off contour lines.
I knew by the 4th or 5th control that I wouldn't be making another loup around due to how I was feeling health-wise so I took it easy and concentrated on my route choices. Please don't be the flu!!

"Skimagination" game for 10 minutes.
5 minute jog around the field.

Run down the river to the old amphitheatre and back. Two hills, one 'with a nipple on top'.
Feeling good after yesterday's race. Legs are sore- good sore. :)
