Running race 12:00:00 [3]
Cruel Jewel 100.
I was really nervous before this race. My training had not gone as well as I wanted. I felt in March/April my long runs weren't long enough yet. Then as I was in my last big block of training before the race I had back/hip problems from basketball and had to take 2 weeks of lighter training before my last big week.
Overall really happy with how the race went. The challenges I had were unrelated to the training in the end and more related to the heat during the day and then blisters on my feet. This is probably the steepest race I've ever done and that really hurt my feet with them just jamming constantly into the top of my shoes. I will probably try taping some toes and my heels for the next race to see if that helps.
First day was quite hot and I suffered a lot. Ended up having to take a few breaks to eat, cool down or throw up. Through the night I rallied and got some energy back. The next day there was a breeze so that helped a lot with the heat. In the end a great experience. I signed up for this race because I'd heard it was really tough and it didn't disappoint.
