I am realizing that my sense of self-worth is based on what I do, as opposed to who I am; while the sense of self-worth for most of my fellow labmates is based on who they are. What they do is just an extension of that inherent sense of self-worth, not the foundation upon which they build a sense of self-worth. This explains a lot.
