i was a bit on the fence about running the CSU adventure run, and the hassle of figuring out the public transportation/parking/motorcycle gear storage thing was kind of the final nail in the coffin. but it was beautiful out, really wanted the maps and knew Ed would have done a solid job printing them - so I decided to bike down to the commons and buy a few. Saw the fastest few people outbound on the esplande. Got to the seen of the crime, chatted with Ed and the Bermans for awhile, and sealed my fate by asking Ed if the half-size race was bikeable.
Urban O is the digital to forest-O's analog. Rock-solid unambiguous map contact, except for where you're completely wrong. Bulletproof nav through 7 (wentworth), then - sans compass - went SW instead of SE out of it. 2min error. Little wandery from 9 to 10 (copley to the hong kong eatery's infamous new location) - shouldn't've tried so hard to stay on line. aaaand then i skipped the last control. nice.
barely edged the foot-powered SGB by three minutes, and minus one control.

i had forgotten about all those unmapped trails. oof. didn't feel the hurt as hard as i expected for the lack of training, but there was copious 'rest' for conrtrols 5-7.
6 was an embarrassment, 5 and 13 were a bit of a joke, and the rest was less slapstick, and more an even mix of decent and okay. not sure if the adventure run tomorrow is the best idea, with such a thin base of training.
another week of low training, partially due to a cold, and partially due to buying a house. looks like i'll have to host some fells training at some point.
