Golf 1:45:00 [3]

At Willow Brook in South Winsor. First golf since early June. None of us had any enthusiasm to be out in the heat, humidity and rain this summer. Usual foolishness, each of us had a few good shots, none of us were caring too much. Cooled down in the bar afterwards; tried but failed to solve the world's problems with our conversations.

Great start at Pond Mt through #2 and 80% of the crow-flight distance to #3. Then BOOM. I mistook west for south and went way far afield in bewilderment. Decided to quit, go NW to skirt the OOB back north. But when I finally saw where I was on the map -- the creek below east-facing cliffs on the western frontier, I decided to hunt for #4 and then on to #3. Found #4 then could not find #3. Wandered back to #4 again and this time checked compass every 6 to 10 meters, staying on azimuth and not trying to avoid steep climbs over knowls. Found #3. By now pretty exhausted. Straight to #5. Stopped a stone's throw too short on way to #6, got confused in the scree, went high and failed.

At this point my right hip was in pain and I opted to quit by descending west to turn north to find gentler slope to transit. Discovered the slot going up to #7 so stopped by to punch it. Didn't even look for eight. Followed field's edge to #9. At trail on way to #10, had no enthusiasm for climbing again and followed trail down and around to the Finish.

Bah. My route.

Maybe there was Confusion Gas in my car: apparently Charlie, who shared the ride with me, had trouble too. Will fumigate the Audi.

Swimming 53:00 [3]

Had not been to the pool for awhile but a satisfying workout nonetheless. I think the sessions on the basement gym have helped the pecs and lats alot.
