Inspired by Charlie's hike to the overlook in Peoples State Forest , a place I had been with the kids 40 years ago but in recent wanderings had not found, plus the cool weather, I headed out there to take advantage of the cool weather. I didn't try for the distance than C did but went to the Warner's Rock and back. Nice late afternoon hike. I must go back and explore the rigid some more.

Great view of the Farmington River in Barkhamsted/New Hartford spoiled only by those that can zoom in enough to see Lans' fire tower right of the bulge on the horizon (photo).

A slow meander around pond at Stratton Brook a few times. Taking it easy after last week's unremarkable elective laparoscopic appendectomy that included removing polyp found last month in the entrance. The occasional pinch or gas pains thankfully not in evidence today. Even the pulled neck muscle (how'd that happen?) offered no annoyance. The incentive to behave is the prospect of beginning training in a couple of weeks for the Fall O season of local meets.

The park was full of sprinting lasses, evidently the high school's cross-country team. Fun to watch them pour on the speed for the last 100m or so where the coach by the bridge could see them.
