Leg 4. Knew it was incredibly tricky in the dark thanks to some earlier runners. Also had the problem that my borrowed headtorch didn't stay on my head so had to carry it in my hand from the start. Marcus Pinker was the man I needed to make time on and he'd set out about 14 minutes before me. Took 1 super super slow and made sure I got it right. The rest in the forest still taking it slowly just making sure there were no major mistakes. Out in the open I could basically see in the light so could run much harder. Slight miss on the control in the green with bad compass. Back into the forest again slowed it down initially but gained a bit of confidence and as it got a bit easier towards the end was nearly at full pace. Shown a good time by Duncan later on but he had daylight and I only lost a couple of minutes to Marcus so think it was a respectable run. Finished in second behind FVO in the end after Jegor ran a superb last leg.

Planned a course with Nathan and then ran it and met up with him at a couple of points. Not running well and going pretty slow and made a couple of misses just by not concentrating. Need to get better at that.

Middle training. Started at 1 minute intervals and so inevitably formed a train at about halfway. Got ahead of the train as they missed to one control but then forgot my compass and made a miss allowing Tam and Will to catch back up but beat them in the finish sprint. Nice.

Started out on some long training and shortly realised I felt awful and cut it short rather quickly. Had some nice long sit downs in some beaut bits of forest though in the sun which was pretty nice.
