Running warm up/down 13:14 [2] 2.0 km (6:37 / km)

Up with some drills and stuff before and after the minibus.

Orienteering race 1:25:17 [4] 11.53 km (7:24 / km)

Started off well through to #11 really although I've lost a minute to Dan in just the first 3 and probably more after that. Really slow into #11 nothing major just wasn't completely sure where I was, probably 30 secs. Saw Will leaving this having started 3 mins behind. Nothing to really attack #13 off apart from a small spur but the crag didn't seem in quite the right place in relation to it and lost 2 minutes wondering around until Dan turned up having caught me 3 minutes. Ran with him through to #17 where I'd got slowly dropped. Caught Will at #19, completely demoralizing him causing to take an early retirement. Could see Dan ahead at 20. Picked the wrong route on #22 by going left past the finish. Lost 2 minutes purely off route choice. This was mainly due to the right had route having about 100 meters less climb at the end. Need to get better at looking for these things when picking routes. Managed to loose 6 minutes through #24 and #25. Diagonal legs down a slope and both times I was too high and ran too far. A little bit distracted by Dan on #24 but that's not an excuse. Got fed up of the rocky slope so dropped well down to run on a path to #26 and Dan took about 30 seconds out of me. Total maybe 12 minutes lost which is again not good enough. Didn't really feel like I'd lost that much while I was actually running though which is strange.

Running warm up/down 32:05 [3] 5.82 km (5:31 / km)

Run back along the old railway to assembly with Dan. Bonked so hard it was unreal. Took all my effort just to stand up and move in a straight line. Reminiscent of BOC several years ago.

Running warm up/down 25:30 [3] 5.08 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Up out to Greenbank through the Hermatige.

Orienteering intervals 9:10 [5] 2.41 km (3:48 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Sprintervals with Tim, Tam, Ali and Will. Mass started 2 and pretty much ran by yourself for the other 2. Really tough session as essentially running at your max due to the nav being relatively easy. All 4 of them about 5-10 seconds down on the others.

Running 2:21 [1] 0.4 km (5:52 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Measuring out a 400m stretch of road.

Running intervals 2:18 [5] 0.78 km (2:57 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

2 x 400m... sort of. First rep we managed to stop short so was only 370m and time was 58. Second rep was somehow too far (410m and split was 74). At this point I felt so close to throwing up and called it a day. Was initally intending to do 4 reps.

Running warm up/down 36:16 [2] 6.59 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Run back with some strides thrown in along the way.

Note
(rest day)

Would only have done SSS today anyway and couldn't go with everyone else as I was in a lab so just a day off. Quads have been so sore all day for some reason.

Running warm up/down 17:28 [3] 3.3 km (5:18 / km)

Up out to Blackford Observatory.

Orienteering 45:42 [4] 5.85 km (7:49 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

FWTN on Blackford and the Hermatige. This area is truely awful. Caught Dan at 2 after he was messing about but then lost him to 4 after I took the lower/slower route. Saw him and Tim who'd caught me near 7 however after I spent a good 2 minutes trying to scramble up this slope which I never made it up they ran away. Decided I couldn't get up it so just went back down and on to 8. Don't feel too cheeky as I must have only been 5 meters away just unable to get to it. Re-caught them at 9. Took a different and equal route to 13. Managed to drop them on 15 after they went over the first bridge and got stuck on the slope and I crossed the river underneath the control. Ran by myself for the rest without any real mistakes just so slow going up and down the slopes. Thought I'd taken a maverick route to 25 by going straight through the gorse bushes but turns out 4/5 of us did the same. Think I was third behind Tam and Bash by about 2 minutes and then 2 in front of Tim. Thanks to Conor for making it as fun as the area allowed.

Running warm up/down 12:55 [3] 2.49 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

Down straight along the road.
