Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Orienteering race 27:08 [5] 4.85 km (5:36 / km) +146m 4:52 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

I was never really up for this, in a team which didn't stand a chance. Some sloppy mistakes cost me a lot of time and i never really got going.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Legs were feeling weary but I knew everyone else's would be too. I wasn't quite as focused on the actual orienteering though, I was more bothered about running fast.

Orienteering race 44:56 [5] 8.19 km (5:29 / km) +140m 5:03 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

I started off slowly to make sure I didn't make mistakes because i knew that one mistake could quite easily leave me out of the top 5.
2 i was quite hesitant and passed another control that added to this.
6-7 were both slow and hesitant because i generally don't like controls in bits of rhodis and having to pick your way through.
8-9 I wasn't confident enough and so took weird routes and didn't attack enough.
10 i was too in the middle of the path
11 i was really starting to tire both mentally and physically, although interestingly i had been ahead of Sasha all the way up to here.
12 was perhaps my biggest time loss i came off the path too early and wasn't sure enough of where i was and generally a poor control.
13 i should have gone straighter quite simply, i think i lost more time here by my route.
15 i stupidly changed route shortly after crossing the road which is never a good thing to do in fast terrain like that.
15-17 my legs were really dropping off although i kept trying to push because i knew everyone else would be equally dead.
18 lost time because i was in the depression to the left.

Another good warm up

Orienteering race 43:22 [5] 8.58 km (5:03 / km) +207m 4:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

I knew this was going to be a brutal race, and any mistakes would b punished. I also knew that Sasha had run a very fast time.
1 - Started fast but was a little hesitant when i didnt see it straight away,
2 - got caught in some undergrowth with slowed me
3 - almost got drawn into the control higher up the reentrant but realised.
4 - couldn't attack that hill, just died
9 confused me because i was a bit to the left and i could see it but it was next to a tree on the side of the pit and not in it so from where i was it looked like ten so approached it sure that it was 10 and i had blown the race, but luckily it was 9.
caught and overtook Nathan at 11 which was a welcome boost.
12 - i pushed really hard on this leg and wanted to be safe so went up to the little path to be sure i knew where i was.
13 - another walk / slower than walk run up the hill. should have cut through the open though to keep closer to the line.
14 - banana'ed a bit.
15 - i thought i would miss Sasha's time and so got a bit demoralised and slowed a tad which I shouldn't have.
16 - being lazy i got pulled to the right by people who were going to a different control but i knew this as i was doing this so knew what to do.
then going down the hill i realised i still had a chance but i was physically dead by here so i couldn't push much more.
Pleased with this run, but eight seconds is so close after 5 and a half k of full speed running.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

I think my warm up was too long.

Orienteering race 11:03 [5] 2.73 km (4:03 / km) +14m 3:57 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Having seen some quick times being set, particularly Sasha's, I was quite nervous. I knew that it wouldn't be the hardest of sprints and so running and making decisions quickly would be key.
The first two were easy.
3 - I chose to go right before realising that there was a hedge, Sasha's route to the left looks best.
5 - Again i chose right, and although i was slower than Sasha I still think that's the better route.
The rest were fine, if a little hesitant in some places.
Can't complain too much about being 8 seconds down, I performed well and just lacked the top end speed. I was glad to be a bit ahead of 3rd as well, although if Nathan put his emit into the control then he would also be very close.
