Note

Seems as though a long break has done me some good. The numbness in my right arm has gone now, it was worst when going flatout on aerobars! Compressed nerve was either due to thumb/wrist injury or displaced upper back from the accident.

Rather mixed feelings today about proving the NHS were wrong yet again about my thumb fracture. For months I've suspected my thumb had healed in the wrong position. This despite being told it was close enough when I saw a specialist privately 5 weeks after the accident. His opinion was based on an x-ray that was taken 3 weeks earlier and wasn't a 3D scan. Anything more than a mm out can lead to chronic pain, early arthritis, loss of function. No small matter as the thumb is 50% of the functionality of the hand and its my right dominant hand too.

Yesterday I decided to strongly massage the base of the bone and it jolted into a new and much better position. Still painful, a bit clicky (cartilage?) but hopefully it can heal properly now!

Note

Convinced the underlying problem preventing recovery is the calf has been shortened for too long on a heel pad and cardboard inserts of around 8-10mm (now down to just a sorbathane insert) and new fibres are too short. Need to be ultra careful whilst gradually removing them, going to be stop start for a while.

Done some more reading: Scar tissue may be adhering to surrounding fibres causing visous cycle of micro damage-inflammation-more scar tissue etc.

Stretching/extensions 2:00 [1]

3 short localised massages.
