VCGH Group Ride - Haslemere-Rogate-S Harting-Rowlands Castle-Emsworth Harbour (cafe)-Compton-S Harting-Woolbedding-Linchmere-Haslemere
Brill! Ticked all the boxes, sunny, scenic, undulating, good company and most importantly the right pace. Had a choice of 3 group rides this w/e and emailed the VCGH ride captain who steered me away from the pacey/moderate Saturday ride. It turns out today was the quickest moderate paced ride this year verging on pacey. Working just below my sportive pace. Average was better than last week with more drafting, looking forward to next weeks sportive.
No injury issues - at least not yet. Need to drink more than I thought, second bottle cage?

Second day of ultrasound, massage and twice daily icing - and missing out on a ride today. Hopefully I can manage 20-30 min next week without this sort of reaction, as in other respects good cross training.

Couple of twinges from left calf last night so iced. Happier this morning, as both calves feel battered, which is usual in the summer with drier ground. Just need more rain, preferably at night!

Hawley - BAOC Score Event - 25 from 30 controls
Very low key, got there late, no specs (just aiming for the middle of the circle) and the event had started early so last 4 controls had been collected in. Lost around 7 mins and poor control flow
Had a good relaxed run out and seemed unaffected by cycling stiffness. Ligament soreness started around 45 mins.

Albury-Shere-Volunteer-Newlands - a recovery ride HR mainly 135 -140.
Planned to go out with C but the smell of dinner was too much for him so I headed out alone in full winter gear. A suicidal driver driving at 70 overtook the car that was overtaking me whilst two cars were on the other side of the road and then had to slow down to avoid hitting the back of the next car.

Spent a couple of hours fretting over whether I'm doing/planning on doing enough or perhaps too much. Started to loose the plot, so new guideline is go for the options that are most enjoyable

Chip time 4 mins slower than expected, so fitness more or less as expected, but not better. Still valuable miles/hills in the bank.
