Cycling (Sportive) 2:36:42 [4] 40.1 mi (3:54 / mi) +880m 3:39 / mi
ahr:148 max:162 shoes: Giant Defy 1

Little Lumpy - Sport Course - 4th from 81 - chip time 2.37.12 (only 30s stops)
Halsemere-Rogate-S Harting-Woolbedding-Fernhurst-Lurgersall-Blackdown!-Haslemere

Started late with Luke who is training for TDF Etappe, a week of the tdf stages in the Pyrenees, he'd just had 2 months off with tyhroiditis. Then we went our separate courses and soon afterwards the faster Challenge (60 mile) riders appeared. Took a tow for a couple of miles but peeled off as my HR climbed to THR. Then it was me catching people on the flats, being left on the climbs and doing my best to recatch over the top. Just meant I never enjoyed a tow, Hills were tougher than I expected. Blackdown went from 33m up to 249m, garmin had 880m climb compared to 666m on bikeroutetoaster. The hill at the end had an early 14% followed by 18% where I got off walked 50m and actually gained time on those that rode up.
First sportive and thoroughly enjoyed it, time flew by. Was more or less racing for the last 25 miles. Sticking to HR went out the window after 15 miles, but learnt a lot more.
In better shape than I thought, just as well as only 11 weeks to RideLondon 100. Would like to return to August 2012 target which was to be get in shape to enjoy it, not just do it! Early days, but not totally unrealistic.
Despite severe hills no injury issues apart from trying to turn round whilst drinking. Need to drink on smooth slight downhills (sway all over the place on bumps) and take smaller chunks of food. Lastly, furthest ridden none-stop and realised padding isn't wide/high enough on butt, I'm hardly butt challenged!

Cycling warm up/down 5:00 [1] 1.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

(rest day)

Went for a family walk at Holmbury and ended up with an impromtu SN reunion when we bumped into Simon Beck now living in France (just been radio O at Winterfold) and Pete Kelly (out mountain biking) both at the same time on a track near the summit.

Cycling (SS) 1:09:12 [3] 17.9 mi (3:52 / mi) +390m 3:37 / mi
ahr:144 max:154 shoes: Giant Defy 1

Blackheath-Shamley-Thorncombe-Chinthurst (hilly narrow lanes) - HR mainly 145 to 150
Feeling more confident about recovery from injury and a bit stronger too, so pushed harder.
First attempt at putting the course on Bikeroutetoaster and uploading before the ride, so easy, even for a Luddite!

Orienteering 35:45 [4] 4.3 km (8:19 / km) +95m 7:29 / km

Bramshott - BAOC
Howler on 1, an easy leg too, got in wrong block and did my best to make it fit as I'd heard the controls were iffy, lost 4.75 mins, under 30s for the rest and the controls were fine! Without 1, would have been only 20% slower than Dave Rollins at 7.2 min/k pace. Didn't feel like it, but not complaining!
Would love to get into a routine eventually of 3 cycling and 2 running sessions a week.

Running warm up/down 8:00 [2]

Note
(rest day)

Right hip and ligament sore, feels more of an overuse issue.
Found and entered Little Lumpy Sportive for Sunday, just the ticket, 10m/k climb and 40 miles.

Cycling (SS) 1:28:12 [3] 23.2 mi (3:48 / mi) +330m 3:38 / mi
ahr:142 max:152 shoes: Giant Defy 1

Send-Ockham-E Horsley-Coombe-Shalford-H Street
Had planned to go anti clockwise to enjoy the downhills but far too wet so went the slower clockwise route.Struggled, poor nights sleep, achy all day. Glad I got out, somehow missed the hailstorm and the black clouds passed safely overhead too.
