Orienteering race 56:11 [4] 6.8 km (8:16 / km) +155m 7:25 / km

Holmbush - MVOC - SE Vets Champs Blue 6.8k - 58.11
All things considered a decent run on a physical technical and deserted course (3 mins behind Colin and 1 min on Ian), lost 45s going to 2 thought I was on wrong path and doubled back! 8 - 20s getting into control, 12 - 50s one/two niches out, 15 - brashings so tough went into O2 debt, 30s wrongly guessed someone had come out of control instead of following own MR, could feel my brain was losing it from here onwards no flow/confidence, 17 poor exit -30s.18 & 19 slow but very tricky. 4 mins at most. Not convinced strain is a muscle issue, so did the blue, even fell over whilst caught up in a sapling and had no pain. MR would benefit from armchair orienteering training, feeling rusty.

Orienteering 58:40 [4] 7.2 km (8:09 / km) +105m 7:36 / km

Long Valley North - BAOC 7.2k 58.40
Started about a minute ahead of Axel, from 4 to 7 I was expecting him to overtake and leave me behind. We spent most of the course with me leading and going too fast for my MR and Axel reigning me in. An unexpected role reversal given our supposed abilities. Turns out I was towing Axel and he has dodgy hamstrings. Lost 45s on 4, 90s on 7, maybe 40s going straight on 14 plus around 1.45 of 10-20s errors. Fitness returning much quicker than expected, going well on the terrain and didn't fade with the extra distance.
Good to meet Tim at last.
