Very hot!

Billed as a park, but this was a deceptively tricky little area. Lots of little tracks and open corridors with horse jumps everywhere. The map was a little out of date in places which made things interesting.

Mostly managed to keep an eye on the compass to ensure I was in the right area but ended up somewhere unexpected a couple of times (most notably en-route to #7).

Unfortunately the wood was full of stinging nettles and the abiding memory is one of painful, tingly, itching legs which led to a very fitful sleep that evening.

SINS Day 3 Brampton Bryan

Nice bit of wood in the south - not too enthused with the northern part of the area, or the course planning towards the end of the course.

#1 In my mind I was saving climb. In actuality I ran further, through worse terrain and made the approach to the control harder. Relocated off depression beyond [80]
#8 Snaky route did not pay off [60]
#11 Struggled to interpret veg boundaries when almost upon control [75]
#14 Should have used ride rather than direction of run. Then hesitant once in the open [60]
#20 A horrible leg - tried to use path but made a mess of getting to it, then it was slow with fallen trees. Feature was negligible. Quicker to drop down to valley, but then it would just be a trudge straight up the hill to come straight back down again... [90]
#21 In the vicinity quickly but took some time to find the flag amongst the thickets [60]

Over 10mins down today, but remained 2nd overall - enjoyable weekend.

SINS Day 2 Nash Wood

Bit of a contrast in weather to the previous day - scorchio!
Legs felt ok despite slightly disturbed night (C unwell).

Slight overshoot to #1 [20]
Attacked #3 from below which worked ok; distinct veg boundary here to my recollection missing from map.
Aimed off west to #4 - but rather more than necessary [45]
Good RC leg to #5 - chose fairly straight which worked ok I felt.
#8 Intended straight but ended up on path above [20]
#9 Ended up at tower [20]
#10 Too far north [20]
Generally ok thereafter, although definitely tiring.
Spotted DEVON guy ahead to #17 and gradually reeled him in.
#20 High route paid off.

Ended up 2s down on Llewellyn today - he was 3s faster on the run-in!

SINS Day 1 Long Mynd

Early start with Llewellyn chasing me down 4 mins.
Chose to go down and up on #5 and looking back across the valley spotted him doing the same - felt like he'd already made up a lot of time but looking at the splits only 6s down at #4!
Ran down the spur to #8 but neglected to read description; after not seeing the flag on the lower crag carried on to search a different set, only to look back and see the control between the crags! [90]
Less impetus now for the steep climb towards #9 and Llewellyn was now gaining fast.
Passed at #13; and finished around a minute behind, so 5mins overall.

Seemed the weather worsened later on - perhaps explaining slightly lofty position on a runners course.
