Bingley St Ives
New area to me - icy underfoot in places.
Given not in top shape physically tried to focus even more on navigation.
Small bits of time lost on #2 (missed path above car park) and #3 (staying higher initially would have afforded better running and less climb).
#7 Almost got caught out by overprint completely obscuring path but just a little hesitant in the end.
#8 Almost on top of control but detoured south as competitors standing on path looking lost and building / path alignment didn't seem to fit. Realised when in white rather than rough open [45]
#10 Had caught and passed competitors on previous leg. Obvious plan for this leg was rough bearing hoping to see depression en-route but expecting to bounce off gate beyond. Didn't spot flag on first pass so annoyingly led people I'd just got away from into flag... [75]
#12 Had got a bit of a gap again but then lost a little due to poor bearing too far south [20]
#14 Still rushing, struggled to identify marked path but used boulders to get there without too much loss.
#15 Hadn't planned ahead due to haste to get away from others from #9 onwards. Straight line looked ok at first glance- with just a narrow bit of green to get through so leapt straight into it - another couple of bounds and there was no way out! Almost as hard to just get back out the way I'd come, back past the control again having spent over 2mins frolicking in the rhodos... just as my chasers were catching yet again! Then took simple route around to the SW which was probably the best route in any case due to more green and high wall on straight line route [2m 30s]
#16 Not caught out by tunnel.
So started off ok but deteriorated towards the end - still getting influenced by others. Back feeling better for the exercise.
