Dymock Brown

Hearsay from previous events (I've never run here before to my knowledge) had me prepared for horrifying brambles but these never materialised. The woods were a delight, especially the low visibility greens (all shades).

#2 Ran along the planting line through the 'fight'.
#4 Dropped to lower path to have better attack but crossing stream valley was slow [30]
#10 Hesitant as struggled to match up ditches but then spotted flag.
#11 Tempted by western route just for fun but reluctantly used path.
#14 Poor compass and vague veg boundary saw me looking too far north near another slightly less distinct tree [90]
#16 Oversimplified and ignored all detail other than path I was aiming for. This was indistinct so ran over it without noticing and reached OOB road... [2mins]
#17 Looked at northern route but this looked more fun. Punched incorrect control early first [30]
#18 Straight through green ok, but started looking too early on stream [30]
#21 Poor direction out of control then confused path adjacent to stream [40]

Apparently my best run ever (according to the indisputable ranking system).

Knockalls Blue

Down this way for Concert so rolled up to the NGOC event.
Know parts of the area fairly well due to planning WNL here in Jan 2015.
Had a fairly decent run.

#6 Hesitant, flag seemed on wrong feature relative to ponds below [20]
#9 Hesitant, wasn't confident of position along spur and failed to match up boulders [25]
#16 Stuck in undergrowth / marsh mid route [20]
#20 Ended up too high crossing green [30]

2nd; 1min down on Pete Ward.

Note

Another week of no activities working on the assumption that the negatives from an extra reduction in sleep would outweigh any benefits from the exercise...
