Take 2: legs tired but brain ready for a re-match with the Planner / forest.
Mantra for today was stolen from tommyb: Nav is King. This was repeated out loud at various instances throughout the course (sometimes to praise my efforts, sometimes to critique them).
#1 Seemingly quicker to go straight from the off but hard to know from map.
#2 Similar leg to yesterday; same route and safe into flag.
#3 Made it to fenced enclosure as planned, but didn't see path as I crossed it and ended up too far east, rectifying when I spotted bigger path [110]
#4 Safely in from path bend.
#5 Control picking.
#6 Very obvious path route to get to the circle. Unsure how to attack control but fortunately flag was very visible.
#7 Safe to path junction then followed line of depressions in.
#8 Bit of a wobble but kept on track with compass.
#9 Area where I lost most time yesterday. Nice safe route using big features. A bit slow due to undergrowth though.
#10 Safe from fence corner.
#11 Could have saved a little by using path initially [30]
#12 Ticked off path, ditch and craggy knoll.
#13 Smoothly in using more craggy hills.
#14 Forced west by vegetation but realised I'd gone too far upon seeing large re-entrant [30]
#15 Easy via beach.
#16 Slowed down from white re-entrant.
#17 Straight was rather rough. Should have used beach [50]
#18-#21 Caught some people, some hung on, ran through others.
#22 Misread re-entrant as being on south side of hillock. Left behind by 2, back with others [60]
#23-#F Reeled them back in and got ahead by the penultimate. Most I've tried on the run-in for a while.
So overall less time loss than yesterday; good.
Attackpoints / safe routes selected in tricky areas; good.
Running was reasonable even towards the end; good.
Not enough respect to detail in 'easier' sections; bad.
Still tendency to get distracted by others and hurry navigation; bad.
4th today +8m 30s.
