JK Relays Storthes Hall JK Trophy 2nd Leg for Team 'Major Oak'

BB set me off in 30th; fair few teams about to race at times.

Only real error at #3 where I forgot about the map insert for urban section (why was an urban section needed?) and went to wrong building [20]
Somewhat maverick route choice to #8!

Sludo brought the team home to a final position of 21 of 41 (+16.53)

JK Day 2 Kilnsey M21L

Another early start - not much recovery time given 'lost' hour and long drive to area! Probably still benefitted overall as later conditions were apparently fairly unpleasant.

#2 Misread contours - looking for inverted crag [30]
#3 Straight to control feature initially but flag was hidden, pushed right up against rock face and partially obscured by a tree... Panicked and went to only other possible feature nearby before returning to the same place... [60]
#6 Used small quarry as attack point but still managed to overshoot [100]
#8 Went round first hill which was an error, simple as that [120]
#10 Again, too lazy to tackle hill [30]
#12 Pretty sure this was in the wrong pit. Either that or the map was immensely misleading [30]
#13 Had passed some guys, drifted west [15]
#15 Drifted way west again [50]
#19 West again(?) [10]
#22 Very hesitant as map didn't seem to fit [10]

Running ok at the end; not sure how!

JK Day 1 Wass M21L

Entered Long this year - anticipated a bit of 'returning from injury' competition with tommy b.

Early start probably didn't do me many favours but fewer distractions.

#3 Tried to save some climb but ended up battling through some rhodies and dithering on the slope rather than using small path [30]
#6 Bramble bashing / stopped too early to check number of flag on rock feature higher up slope [30]
#10 Poor route out to path from previous control [20]
#13 Had caught someone - chose riskier route along ridge. (Why? Parallel path no distance away with insignificant extra climb and excellent attack point...) Unmarked rock underfoot made ridge slow and I started looking far too early. Headless chicken mode ensued and even went back along ridge a little before rectifying [4mins]
#14 Stayed on upper path too long - slow descent route [30]
#21 Overshot despite carefully counting valleys? [60]
#22 Poor micro-route through rockiest area [20]
Used obvious features in next section which worked a treat - others lost significant time here. Then just trying not too lose ground in easy finale.

4 of 33 (+2:41)

Shame about error on #14 - knew I needed a lead after today to have any chance in the speed merchant area of Kilnsey.

JK Sprint Leeds Uni

Plan was to take it steady ahead of the proper days. Brain still didn't manage to keep up...

#7 Headed for gap at top of stairs that wasn't there. Then retraced path when probably better to continue [35]
#8 Ran straight past feature to wall. Scratched head then realised [20]
#9 Took slalom path [15]
#10 Slalom path again but jumped fence at side. Evidently still slower [10]
Lost a bit of impetus now :(
#21 Missed best route to west [10]
