Note

Alerted to the fact that I am at the lofty position of 56th in the rankings. Undeniably grossly over-ranked but nevertheless that must be an all time high.

A very brief and muddy outing alongside the M8 with my headtorch (impressively still with at least 50% charge remaining following the BNC - evidently can't have had it on the highest setting enough!)

Black Pippingford

Good fun again, started to struggle physically from around #16 though; not used to running this far, let alone successively!

#4 Very hesitant as the site did not fit my mental picture. 20s
#13 Too far west on hitting the stream. Also twisted my ankle here but managed to run it off. 15s
#24 Rough direction in from the path bend wasn't sufficient; milled around with some others too far north for a while. 1m 30s

A really enjoyable run, what a great sport this is!

Made quite a few errors early on; improved as the course went on.

#2 A little low and almost overshot, but was collected by the two walls in close proximity. 30s
#3 Tried to aim off to the left, but then was drawn to #4. Then too low and got stuck in the marsh. 1m 45s
#7 Racing Ifor Powell, too low, but again collected by a handy wall. 45s
#10 Took the straight route, but then lost discipline towards the end and had to follow up the stream for quite a way. 1m 30s
#11 Rushing the navigation, bounced off a flag that wasn't mine but came out on the path above. 1m
#16 Missed the path initially and so had to work my way through some thicker trees. 20s

Possibly an improvement on last year (nearer to RR, albeit further from the lead).

Away Match vs Royston A playing with Alan.
Won vs all three pairs in two; our level of play improving with the quality of the opposition.
Brent / Tom and Mick / Sam also picked up all three, though were both taken to three ends by their 1st pair.
Gave up on the short serve today; probably a good choice as none of the opposition had smashes that we couldn't handle relatively easily.
Overall 9-0 victory... keep up this kind of form and we're in real danger of getting promoted!
