Here is proof that reducing errors is the key.
I made an effort to read the map most of the way around and it paid dividends.
Most time loss originated from being a wimp; taking the path route to #10 rather than tackling the heather and tip toeing over rocks and down crags.
Errors:
Minor miss being too far west on #2 but quick rectification. 15s
Too low for #8 (as was anyone who followed the elephant track!) 15s
Significant hesitation at #13 where I briefly begun to look one spur early. 20s
Poor route to #14 involving more climb. 15s
Slightly unsure of vague green around #16. 10s
Overall a decent result, beating quite a few suspects who have recently had the upper hand (including Llewellyn by 2s who had a bit of a mare at the beginning...)
New shoes largely behaved themselves - feet aching a little throughout but no blisters or real issues.
