EC East Score O
Meet 2/Race 2

Started with the same plan as Aragorn and ran together through the first 5 controls. We both botched #27 in the north part of the map. I should have known from the past that being very close from a certain attackpoint is the only way to have a 50-50 shot at controls in this part of the part. Finally bailed on it until we got close to C25 and then we parted ways as I gave 27 another go. Double fail! There were two or three sloppy controls of warming up by moving faster, the 38 degree rain backing off, and clearing my head then the last hour went well. So a mixed bag, but it was fun to run at Eagle Creek east in the daylight.

NB. 30 min lost on control 27. Pretty daft running with lots of drift in the vegetation on all three attempts.

Note

Time for some new training goals.

Last year was fairly successful; blew up my goals for orienteering. Woot!!
Hours of exercises was ok and I learned that not running when it is hot during the summer makes this goal hard to achieve, especially if you don't count O'ing as running.

So, I will raise the total time and orienteering distance. Just keeping the running goal the same will be a good achievement and getting 1000C again might be a stretch!

Camp Timberhill New Year's O
Meet 1/Race 1

Started fine, irritated by the tree hopping and honeysuckle on the way to C4 that just got worse until I eventually sharpened up and escaped on the way to C6 after having run into a barbed wire fence. Worst leg was a poorly executed leg that should have been easy to C7. Began to mellow out on the way to 8 and the rest of the day was ok. Clipped a sharp honeysuckle branch later in the course (C16?) and really ripped up my pants and leg in two spots. Someone once told me that orienteering was a blood sport; I at least looked like I was living the dream. Fell to Aragorn by 90s, a good way for him to start the year.
