We barely hung on for the win 5-4. The other team was pouring it on at the end and taking shot after shot.

I started off strong for the first little bit. I decided to take the towpath but then couldn't tell if there was a crossing down stream so I came back and ran the other side until I couldn't. I finally had to climb the hill and didn't read the map well so was just going along until I hit a trail. I hit a different trail then expected. Lost all momentum so took it easy the rest of the course. I walked a bunch and didn't push it.
After a few controls I had a kid follow me for about 10 controls. It was very annoying. I finally stopped and walked to let the kid get ahead. Once I started jogging again I caught right back up to him. The kid was running faster than I was but not orienteering. he would pass me then stop. A few controls later I decided to actually run hard and leave him behind. So I ran hard, got to the next one ahead of him and kept going. Unfortunately on that control was one where a key contour was hidden and I missed the control. The kid saw it and beat me to it as I was coming back to it. After that I gave up.

Had trouble again with lines/circles hiding key features/contours. Long course: #1, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 all had key contour detail hidden.

Ran down the tow path this time. Checked out some controls that didn't seem quite right when I ran the course. One was mis-hung by about 20 meters. I thought it was hung wrong but because of a hidden contour it wasn't as far off as I thought it was.
One area was off compared to the surrounding features. The hill was the right shape but the distance from another area was too long. Unless my compass was off I think the hill is not mapped quite correctly.
I also found an unmapped boulder that turned out to be one the map but under the marking circle of the controls I was to pick up. burned again by unbroken lines.
