Orienteering (beer chase) 1:17:17 7.4 km (10:27 / km)
shoes: O: Falcons 2008
Park was wet and it was really hot. Course was set with two similar loops with some people running each loop first. I lost some motivation early in the course because there were fewer people assigned to my loop. My loop also had a huge disadvantage, we had the farther controls early which means we lost the pack advantage. By control 2, I was buy myself.
I screwed up at control 8 misreading the trails and ran off the map (still on the sheet of paper but under the part where the key was). I spent a long time trying to match up a flat terrain with no features. Finally I decided to bail north to the road. Since I was already north of the road that didn't help. I finally hit a major stream/river which wasn't good. I had no idea where I was to this time I ran south. Finally I hit the road (which was actually the wrong trail I had taken in the first place. This time I saw orienteers so just followed them to the real road. There was no hurry at this point so I just jogged the rest of the course. I did managed to pass Dave Onkst who was suffering from the heat on the final loop.
