Ran the course used by the World Fire Police games. Map was good, course was good, and terrain was good (especially for the middle of summer).
I had been standing around most of the day so wasn't fresh by the time I finally went out. I had to quickly dress and go look for a lost orienteer so hadn't properly stretched. I was one of the last people to start. I let Dave Onkst shame me into doing the longer course.
I did fine navigationally. I screwed up by going from control 7 towards 9. I thought I was at 8. First clue I was off was when I hit an animal track. When the animal track turned into a mappable ride/trail I knew something was wrong. I took me a bit to figure out what I had done but then had no problem going to 8.
Control 11 (in a ditch) I ran to the right area but control was tucked into the ditch and behind a tree. I didn't see it so went looking elsewhere. Finally I bounced off the trail and shot back the same area I had been in before.
Towards the end I ran out of steam. I was getting slower and slower. I was serious danger of cramping at the end. I had to hobble into the finish.

Francis begged me to pick up the far controls. I was really hurting but I went and did anyway. I drank a lot liquids before going out and eat my lunch. I actually felt better once that started to take affect. I stayed on the trail as much as possible so I wouldn't cramp up. I moved very slow.
