Orienteering (red patuxent river park) 1:04:33 [3] *** 7.2 mi (8:58 / mi) +210m 8:13 / mi

Mid atlantic championships. I decided to run red so I would have more energy for the relay. I was fairly clean but not very fast. I need to get more speed (and endurance).
I was not happy with one leg where the field was a route choice. I opted for the quick running of the field and to avoid some climb only to find the field totally overgrown with huge hitchhikers. I went back into the woods and had to spend 30 seconds picking off the hitch hikers that were poking into my skin.
I overshot number 10 as there was no dot knoll. There was just a new root stock.
11 to 12. I took the road and should have followed the re-entrant around.

Orienteering (Relay leg four) 15:56 [5] ** 2.6 km (6:08 / km) +50m 5:35 / km

Leg four of the relay.
White: Tom Wells,
Advanced: Scott Pleban
Yellow: Tim Good
Advanced: Ted Good

Due to bizarre handicap, we started last, 18 minutes after the first start. Despite an average age over 40 years we were worth no points.

I ran hard. I didn't like some of the control placements:
#1, was correct but was very high in the reentrant. #2 wasn't in the reentrant at all and I lost time looking in the reentrant. #6 was lying on the ground.
Running to #5 across the field I had Corinne and Nadim in front of me. I caught Corinne but could quite catch Nadim.
A ended up with a fast time.
