Orienteering (mapping) 4:30:00 [1]

Mapping at Avalon. tons of spider webs.

Run 6:50:00 [3]

Run to/from mapping area.
4 PM

Orienteering 18:33 [3] *** 2.4 km (7:44 / km)

Oregon ridge. First part was warmup with a compass. Hard to find some of the streamers.

Orienteering 51:56 [3] 5.1 km (10:11 / km)

2nd part was run without a compass. It was very tough for me. I use the compass tomeasure distance and to confirm that I was running the correct direction. I kept looking down and there wasn't anything to see, just the map. I turned this into a memory exercise to avoid looking at the map. It was very hard to do fine tune orienteering without orienting the map. I did make one mistake where I fell off the hill side the wrong way and then turned down the wrong stream. I only went about 100 meters before I realized something wasn't quite right and stopped and retraced what i could have done wrong when I realized my error.
