Orienteering (Night O) 2:32:36 [3] 7.43 mi (20:32 / mi) +265m 18:29 / mi

Night O at Prince William. Started two minutes behind Tim Good, 4 Minutes behind Dave Onkst. Tim was in sight by the first control. I misread the map was to low. Cut back to control. Spent awhile looking for the epunch box. Couldn't find it so I punched my map. Tim was long gone by now. Decided to go straigt to 2. Went over the hill but there wasn't a control. Then I started wandering to see what could have gone wrong. Went down to the ditch, Yep I was where I was suppose to be. Finally cut out to the road junction and came back in. Still no control. Attacked from the hill top and was super confident I was in the correct spot. Nadim came up and I told him there wasn't a control or it was mishung. I finally went on. Ok to three. Screwed up 4 and was floundering. Saw Nadim. Then I figured out where I was and found the control. Told Nadim to head my way. Ok to 5 but got confused when I hit the field. Nadim missed the control. Totally screwed up 6 and at this point couldn't begin to tell you what I did. Finally found myself about 300m from the control which was amazing since I thought I was about 600m away. 7 ok, 8 slow (was suppose to be water but there wasn't any). Took the trail to 10 (didn't have to do nine). Either the map is wrong or the control is mishung at #10. I suspect the map is wrong. Spent quite awhile looking for a non-existant feature. 11 was in the rocks. Again, I am not confidant the control was hung in the correct spot but it was hard to tell as the rock was not properly mapped. After having relocating the same spot twice I decided to just quit. I was tired, my legs were cramping. Trying to get out of the rock I stayed low and came across the control. Control 12 was hung on a non-existant dot knoll. Never did like that part of the map. I finished last of all the known red runners.
