BFLO National Meet at Sardinia - Red
I started a bit early to turn the controls on, and Zach started in the main start window. I wasn't sure when he started and when he came through the spectator leg it was late enough that I thought I had a shot at beating him, but no, he got me by exactly 1 minute. I was actually up by 20 seconds with 2 controls to go but he beat me by over a minute on the next, deadfall-filled, leg.

Slow to the first control because of uncertainty around the trails, but then was pretty good for most of the rest. Lost a few seconds at C3, because I guess I was too low. The map was tough to read there. I lost a couple of seconds at C5 when I got to the tip of the marsh, there was no flag, but it was just tucked around the corner. Overran C8 and when I turned around a Canadian was punching. I passed him by taking the bridge over the creek leaving for C9, and stated ahead until the deadfall before C10. Beat him out to the road easily by taking the trail (right past his next control), but then our courses diverged. C15 was a tough section of woods to get through.

weight:176lbs (rest day)

Because I ended up working until 5:30, couldn't quite squeeze in a workout before Luke's juniors awards night at Schroeder (he won an RPI award), so a second day off in three days (luckily yesterday was a double).

Went for a short "run" at Lincoln Park. Many of the trails were somewhat overgrown, so in addition to the hills, that made for very slow going.

Got out ahead of my ghost by 5 seconds in the first mile and he caught me during the 5th mile. The leader was 22:53 (which turned out to be the same as my ghost) so I had to crank the last 2 miles to get past him.

Biking warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.13 mi (4:42 / mi)

P=93, C=57
120,551 Points on the newly unlocked Outpost game. Much better than the 89K last time. Tactics version again.

It was time for a day off. My right calf is still a little tender from Saturday. It was sore when I started out but didn't really get worse during the day.
