BFLO Meet at Chestnut Ridge - Green Course

Messed up C3 when I was distracted by 3 kids following me (turns out they were supposed to go to C4 :-) ). Cut uphill to C4 just a bit late and lost some time - Zach went by me there. Fairly clean the rest of the way. Slowed some in the middle, but rallied late when I realized the last few controls would be quick.

A very nice run from Ellison Park. The trail out to Browncroft was dry, so I took that and crossed the creek and went into the trails above the creek until I absolutely had to turn around. Achilles was noticeable, but not bad.

I fell once, almost landing full on my forearm, but altered position at the last minute and scraped a knuckle instead of hitting the forearm hard (although I don't think the old wound would reopen at this point...

Made it out for a run at lunchtime. I had noticed a small park on California, so I ran over, did an abbreviated loop and came back. Shaun was there flying a drone-type device that was pretty neat - the image was coming back to him via wifi and his phone displayed it from a cradle on his controller.

Walked 1 min after each 7 of running.

A day of rest was called for when Chris ordered pizza after Luke's baseball game and catching only the last event of the track meet. Legs could use the break after 3 races in 5 days.

ROC Meet at Powder Mills - Red Course

Went around to C1, and there was a guy up ahead leaving C2, but he then went to C1 and back to C2. I ended up trading places with him a few times, but he was quicker on the ups and downs and going over downed stuff, so he worked his way ahead a couple of times, including leaving C15 or 16 (the southern-most control near the end - both Z and I had to recycle our maps). But I made up quite a bit of ground on the grid-o at the end, so I was pretty sure I had gotten close enough to finish ahead of him.

AP has me down for over 8 minutes of mistakes, but I believe most of the mistakes were just areas where my Achilles and right groin limited my mobility. I'll have to check when I can see a map again. It also seemed like a little too much dogleg action, and many controls were too close to trails that had attackpoints, but I'll need to see the map again.

In the end, I probably overdid it, especially after the two trail "races" this week, but we'll see how the next few days go.
