Running 26:00 [2] 3.04 mi (8:33 / mi)

Just did some random running during track practice. Most kids did 3 x (500, 400, 300)R, then 3 x 200F.

So, when I got home I ran over to Luke's baseball practice at Bay Trail, and halfway home (where Chris picked me up because my legs were very heavy from the weekend).

Orienteering race 1:09:00 [4] 7.0 km (9:51 / km)

First time at a WPOC meet @ Hartwood Acres - Long "Scramble".

Weekend with nate continued. While the younger boys were winning the Middle Champs down in Georgia (Luke in M-14 and Zach in M-20), we were driving to the WPOC meet. The long scramble had 21 controls, which consisted of 5 controls separated by 4 boxes, each with 4 controls. Not a whole lot of options for the order of the controls in the box, but there was some.

nate started 4 minutes behind me and almost caught me in the first box. He didn't want to go the same way to C6 as I did, so he took what turned out to be a poor option, then finally went by me in the second box. I still caught sight of him in the third box, but he beat me by about 13 minutes total, as my legs got heavy later - combination of the hills and yesterday's 5K.

Running race 20:30 [5] 3.0 mi (6:50 / mi)

Did the Genesis River Run 5K in Pittsburgh with nate. My first 5K in perhaps 2.5 years. Went through the mile in a little under 7, and the turn around seemed just a bit short (the start and finish were in the same spot, and then there was no two mile mark, so not sure of the actual race distance.

Regardless of the distance, I did manage to win my age group with the time - that hasn't happened in a long time. Nate also won his age group and was 7th overall (although the first woman did beat him, but she was some kind of stud - the 5 and 10K had some runners from the olympic marathon trials and the captain of the US XC team, but then a big drop off (there was $s for the top 3 men and women in each race).

Running warm up/down 21:00 [2] 2.4 mi (8:45 / mi)

A mile w/up and about 12 min with nate after the race.

Did some As, Cs, Frankensteins and quad stretches before the race to try to salvage some range of motion - hips were especially problematic.

Note
(rest day)

Did some walking around the CMU area, but didn't run, thinking walking was better for tryng to recover from yesterday's effort.
